I believe strongly in the need to mentor young women. We, as women leaders, have an obligation to ensure that those coming up behind us are lifted and are encouraged to aspire big. In recognition for International Women’s Day five young women from our community are being mentored for a week by local, accomplished female leaders. I am incredibly excited about extending this opportunity and am looking to grow it in future
years.
Thank you, Mayor Jim Watson, for joining Councillor Gower, Councillor Hubley, and myself at our Budget Talk community meeting on February 21 and for reiterating that the city is exploring all options, including taking over the Kanata Golf and Country Club. I will continue to work on behalf of our community, opposing this development, and will provide updates as they become available.

I am also inviting you to join me at my March 7 transit community meeting to share your ideas and feedback directly with the OC Transpo team. I will be launching a new Kanata North Community Transit Committee and encourage those interested to join.
As your Councillor, I am committed to working towards securing LRT to Kanata. Last week, I met with Premier Ford, Minister Fullerton, Minister MacLeod, and several other
Ministers at Queen’s Park. I took every opportunity I had to convey the need for the Province to help fund Stage 2 and Stage 3 of LRT in our city.

The fifth annual TEDxKanata event, held at Brookstreet Hotel on February 28, was a huge success with over 500 people in attendance. Thanks to everyone who joined us and to the incredible team of volunteers making this event happen each year.
My girls and I had a wonderful time at the Kanata United Church book fair and scored some great reads! Many thanks to all volunteers.
