Transit Community Meeting

Thank you to everyone who joined me at last week’s Transit Community Meeting – either in person or via Facebook Live, and many thanks to the staff from OC Transpo who participated.

As I had shared at the meeting, I am happy to report that I was able to secure funding in this year’s budget for a new Connexion bus route to and from Kanata North. The new Connexion route has yet to be planned, as OC Transpo is looking for our community’s input. Some residents have suggested direct routes from transit stations, many are expressing that they would be willing to go to Innovation Park and Ride for direct routes. Please email me at Jenna.Sudds@ottawa.ca with your recommendations.

I have been receiving a lot of feedback in regards to our bus service to and from Kanata North. We need and can do better. In particular, I have been receiving concerns in regards to the reliability and also frequency of trips, especially from Innovation Park and Ride and Arcadia.

At last week’s meeting, my colleagues from OC Transpo met with Kanata North residents to garner specific feedback and to discuss issues and recommendations. Many residents echoed what I have heard before: long and indirect commutes, drivers not being familiar with routes, reliability issues, and frequency of buses. Having the opportunity to discuss this face to face was very productive and helpful. OC Transpo representatives shared the planned improvements for Kanata North, including more frequent services for routes 63, 64 and 66, and changes in trips once LRT is running. The presentation slides are available on my website.

If you have not had the chance yet, please take a few minutes to complete my confidential Transit Survey to share your experience and suggestions. The survey closes March 30th, 2019.

We need and can do better when it comes to our bus service to, from and within our community. I am listening and working on improvements.
