It is with much frustration that I share today that ClubLink has submitted an application to the City of Ottawa to move forward to develop the golf course lands. This has occurred despite months of work to oppose ClubLink’s pursuit of development and strong community opposition.
What’s happening next?
As I shared on May 10th, the city has in writing communicated its legal position and is standing up for our community, the agreements, and our greenspace. The city is committed to seeking a determination from the Superior Court of Justice on the enforceability of the Forty Percent Agreement.
I am extremely disappointed that it has come to this. ClubLink’s blatant disregard for the Forty Percent Agreement, to which they signed and on which Kanata North has relied for almost 40 years, is completely unacceptable. I will not give up fighting for our community to save this critical greenspace.
I will be holding a community meeting to discuss this further, and I hope you will all join me. As always, a Facebook Live stream will be made available for those who cannot attend in person.
