West End Direct Bus for Canterbury and Merivale High School Students

Many parents throughout the community have reached out to my office with questions and concerns about the current busing shortage, specifically students travelling from Kanata North to Merivale High School and Canterbury High School. The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) is working with OC Transpo to resolve this issue, ensuring there is adequate public transit service for eligible students in grades 7 through 12.

As OC Transpo routes are determined based on demand, a direct route to schools cannot be allocated without confirmation from families that their children would use a dedicated bus to either school.

The city has been sending out a variation of this email to parents that have expressed interest in a direct route. There’s one letter for the parents of students that go to Canterbury High School and another for Merivale High School. These letters go into detail outlining the proposed routes. Please review them and share your opinion. The proposed location for the 8:15 AM pick up is the Hazeldean Mall.

Please respond to my office or to our school board Trustee Christine Boothby at Christine.boothby@ocdsb.ca no later than Friday September 17.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
