Our team has received notification that Hydro One will be completing scheduled vegetation maintenance in the high-voltage transmission corridor in our community. Please see below map of the general work area:
Hydro One is responsible for maintaining a safe distance between vegetation and power lines to keep the corridor safe for public use, keep the lights on, and to allow easy and safe access for their crews. This important work ensures that Hydro One can continue to provide a supply of safe and reliable electricity.
What to Expect
Forestry Technicians will identify and selectively remove or trim trees and other vegetation that could pose a risk to the electrical system. In advance of work, the team delivers this notice to adjacent property owners and engage residents that have work required on their property. Our Forestry Technician will make every effort to contact property owners in advance. Temporary and partial restrictions (e.g., trail or lane closure) may be required during the work to ensure the safety of the public and crews.
Work Methods
Forestry crews will use the following methods to complete this important work:
- Manual trimming and removals of trees and other vegetation will be completed with hand tools such as chainsaws and pruners.
- Support vehicles, including lift trucks and chippers may also be onsite as required.
- If necessary, the application of herbicides will be considered on certain stems to prevent regrowth.
