Community Voice Column – December 7, 2018

It is an honour to have the opportunity to serve our community as your City Councillor, and I will work hard to earn your trust and support. I look forward to working with many of you on the opportunities and challenges our community faces. Kanata captured my heart from the moment my family and I moved here 17 years ago. I learned very quickly that we are a strong, caring, and diverse community, and I know that by working together and listening to each other, we can accomplish so much.

Since the election on October 22nd many of you have reached out to share concerns including: poor bus service, congested roads, blasting around the Beaver Pond, and the many planned developments in our community. These are all priorities for me and my team. We heard this during the campaign, and we have begun to seek out solutions to address these concerns.

As my team and I get acquainted at City Hall, I encourage you to reach out anytime. We may not have all the answers yet, but we are hard at work getting up to speed and meeting with City staff to understand the status of a number of initiatives and projects important to our community.

We are in midst of establishing a new website www.kanatanorth.ca, which we are striving to build into a useful resource for our community. All my new contact information is there, and office hours will be posted shortly. I will have an office at the John G. Mlacak arena as well as at City Hall.

If you see me out in our community, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. It would be a pleasure to meet you, and I always look forward to your ideas and suggestions on how we can work together to make our community even better.
